Gold Gold climbed steadily to as high as $1,153/oz in New York before reverting slightly to close with a gain of 1.56%. It has since range traded from $1,144/oz to $1,147/oz in Asian trading this morning. Gold is currently trading at $1,145/oz and in euro and GBP terms, gold is trading at €861/oz and £755/oz respectively.

Gold Rises to New Record Euro High – Greek Debt Crisis is Canary in Coal Mine

Gold Gold jumped to as high as $1,138/oz in New York before falling back to close with a gain of 0.16% yesterday. It has since range traded from $1,134/oz to $1,138/oz in Asian trading this morning. Gold is currently trading at $1,135/oz and in euro and GBP terms, gold has risen and is trading at €852/oz (new record nominal highs) and £744/oz respectively. Support is at $1,120/oz and resistance is at $1,145/oz. Given the gathering momentum in the gold market - a close above $1145/oz could see us rise to $1160/oz quite quickly.

Euro Gold Rises to New Record High on Renewed Greek Concerns

Gold Gold jumped to as high as $1,133/oz in New York before dropping slightly to close with a gain of 0.71% yesterday. It has since range traded from $1,124/oz to $1,130/oz in Asian trading this morning. Gold is currently trading at $1,125/oz and in euro and GBP terms, it is trading at €839/oz and £742/oz respectively. Gold priced in euros has risen to a new all-time high above €839 an ounce this morning due to renewed concerns about Greece’s fiscal position (see News below).

Gold Set For Sixth Consecutive Quarterly Advance on Physical Demand?

Gold Gold fell to $1,101/oz in New York before recovering to close with a loss of 0.53%. It has since risen from $1,105/oz to $1,110/oz in Asian trading this morning. Gold Gold closed at $1104.45/oz Friday night with a gain of 1.09% on the day in dollar terms, but a loss of 0.27% on the week. Prices were volatile this morning in Asian trading as gold surged in price to $1,114.60/oz prior to falling to $1,103/oz. Gold then gradually recovered in Asian trade and European trade as the dollar weakened. Gold is currently trading at $1,112.00/oz and €824.18/oz & £741.28/oz in EUR and GBP terms respectively.

Gold Rises after Option Expiry but May Close Lower on Week

Gold Gold in dollars closed last night at $1092.50/oz with a gain of 0.31% on the day. Gold continued its recovery in Asian trading this morning and is currently trading at $1,097.60/oz in dollars and €820.02/oz & £11.32/oz in EUR and GBP terms respectively. Equity markets in Asia welcomed the latest Greek deal but European indices are more tentative this morning. The euro has recovered from its recent 10 month lows against the dollar (had risen above 1.3400 by 1130 GMT) but remains under pressure versus some other currencies and gold.

Risk of Contagion Bolsters Gold’s Status as Currency Hedge

Gold Gold closed at $1089.10/oz last night, having lost 1.36% on the day in dollar terms. Gold recovered in Asian and early European trading this morning and at the moment is trading at $1,093.40/oz. In EUR and GBP terms, gold is trading at €819.21/oz and £730.74/oz respectively . Gold Technicals: Weekly Loss Will be Bearish But Fundamentals Remain Positive

Gold In New York yesterday, gold saw a gain of $2.29/oz at its session high of $1109.94/oz before falling to see a loss of $7.10/oz at $1100.55/oz shortly afterwards. It then climbed higher for most of the rest of day and ended near its earlier high with a marginal gain of 0.005%.  Silver dropped to see a loss of $0.16/oz. It fell as low as $16.83/oz before it also climbed higher and ended near its late session high of $17.15/oz with a gain of 0.9%.
